Agadir is an Amazigh name that means the impregnable fortress, it can also mean the property storage or the granary. The city has been called several different names since the end of the fifteenth century A.D., including local names such as Agadir Igher, Agadir L’arba, Le’in L’arba, Founty, and Tegmi Ogadir. L’arba, and Tegmi Orumi. There are few other names found in maps and international official documents, the most famous is the name of Porto Miskinum (The port of Miskina Tribe). The total of these names reached about twenty, but the vast majority of them disappeared with time.
